Imaging & Radiography Solutions

The Imaging Clinic entered a joint venture with BMI Mount Alvernia Hospital in 2008 to provide new state-of-the-art imaging equipment to the hospital to enable it to develop its Cancer Centre of Excellence.

At that time, there was only one independent provider of MRI scanning services on an ageing scanner, one independent provider of PET CT scannings services and the only multislice CT scanner available locally was a 4 slice' scanner offered by a different independent provider.  These offerings were clearly inadequate.

Initially, the CT, MRI and PET scanners were mobile facilities and since that time a state-of-the-art 128 slice CT scanner, wide bore 1.5 Tesla MRI scanner and a Dual Headed Gamma Camera with SPECT facility have been installed.  More recently a Full Field Digital Mammography Unit with sterotaxis has been added.  All are fixed facility units and have been provided after tender by Siemens Healthcare.

Building work has commenced for provision of a state-of-the-art fixed facility PET CT scanner, the first in a totally independent facility outside London.
